Announced 10th April 2007, these new processors offer substantial processing power, and a radically new approach to licensing. Both are aimed at the SMB/SME market, and offer exceptional price performance.

For these models, i5/OS Licensing is by CONCURRENT USER (or DEVICE); licensing for all other models remains as before.

For the existing iSeries user, this is an excellent choice to replace older P05/P10 models, although the restriction on i5/OS (local) users (40 maximum) may rule it out of consideration. There are other configuration constraints imposed by IBM, so be sure to check.

This processor is also a good choice to support other operating systems (Linux, AIX and/or Windows in any combination), all integrated and administered through one interface. There is no limitation on users for clients accessing the processor; these only apply to i5/OS access.

More powerful than the i515, this is an excellent choice for replacing P10/P20 processors. Capacity on Demand provides a temporary or permanent upgrade to CPW = 7100. With these models there are no configuration restrictions, and a fibre connection allows support for those users looking for SAN connectivity and/or heterogeneous operating systems.
