SYSTEM i5 PROCESSORS

These models are particularly suited to larger enterprises, designed and built as a complete and total system. System i5 provides supports a wide range of operating system environments, including i5/OS (OS/400), Microsoft Windows, Linux and AIX 5L, all in a single processor unit.

Whilst the table shows the i520 processor, most users will find a suitable processor from the popular Express range, which are described separately. Models indicated reflect the System i5 Announcements May 2006.

With the exception of the Express range, all these models offer zero interactive capacity (Standard), or 100% interactive capacity (Enterprise). Broadly speaking, the other models are based upon Standard or Enterprise models, but are packaged with specific hardware/software.

IBM SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT

From i5/OS (OS/400) V5R3, IBM has made software management a customer responsibility, with the necessary utilities being web-based. Our experience is that this often leads to frustration.

CVSI can manage the purchase and/or migration of IBM Licensed Program Products (LPPs), guiding customers though the process.

HARDWARE MAINTENANCE

CVSI can provide a complete hardware maintenance support contract, covering

standard onsite repairs, parts and labour costs included

secure remote access for remote diagnostics and systems management

UPGRADES

Unless there are parts being recovered by IBM, most MES (Miscellaneous Equipment Specification) upgrades are designated Customer Install, a daunting prospect for customers unwilling to take unnecessary risks.

All IBM upgrades are performed by our own IBM qualified, in-house engineer. Reduced rates apply where CVSI provides the hardware, whether new or IBM Certified Used Equipment™.
